Nevada Woman Indicted for Attempted Murder of Son

(Las Vegas, Nevada) A 31-year-old local woman, Shavon Jacklein Aguilar, has been indicted for shooting her 11-year-old son in the head.

Aguilar faces counts of attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon and child abuse.

Prosecutors say that Aguilar was distraught over the breakup of her marriage when she entered a bedroom of a residence near Vegas Drive and Decatur Boulevard and shot her then 11-year-old son with a rifle.

He was transported to University Medical Center in critical condition and is now being treated at a care center, where he continues to suffer from limited movement.

Aguilar was booked into custody at the Clark County Jail with bail set at $750,000.
