NY School Counselor Accused of Tampering with Grades

Bonnie Schilling

(Poughkeepsie, New York) A 45-year-old guidance counselor and softball coach at John Jay High School, Bonnie Schilling, has been accused of tampering with a student's grades.

Schilling faces charges of tampering with public records, a Class D felony.
Schilling's arrest followed a five-month investigation in concert with the Wappingers Central School District, police said. The findings determined that Schilling affected the grades of one student, which police said was "not a member of any sports teams at the time of the incident."

Schilling's attorney, Michael Sussman of Goshen, said last month the allegations against Schilling were that she tampered with her son's transcripts, and said Schilling denied the allegation. Sussman did not reply to multiple messages Friday.
Schilling was booked and released on her own recognizance.
